SAHI Webtool Development

The SAHI tool aims to assist governments and industry in developing evidence-based business cases. I developed the web version of the tool using React.js + Next.js in TypeScript. The application incorporates several libraries including Tailwind CSS, DaisyUI, Prisma, and SWR. Deployment was carried out on Vercel with integration to Auth0 and MongoDB.

The SAHI web tool was initiated as a part of a research project to develop a social and affordable housing investment tool by the Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc). As a project manager and full-stack developer at AppFactory at Griffith University, my role was to oversee the entire web development and ensure the web tool met the project objectives. The tool aims to aid governments and industry stakeholders in Australia by providing a platform for evidence-based business cases for justifying investment in social and affordable housing. The focus of the web tool was to provide an intuitive and convenient online experience to consolidate research data to generate a report by upgrading the existing Excel-based worksheet workflow.

In my capacity as project manager and solo developer, I was responsible for coordinating the different aspects of the project from planning and designing to deployment. The tech stack was carefully selected to be future-proof and cost-effective while meeting the limited development time. The development used React + Next.js in TypeScript, with several libraries such as Tailwind CSS + DaisyUI, Prisma ORM, and SWR with MongoDB database. For delivering secure authentication and user management, it is integrated with Auth0. From the beginning of the development, we worked closely with the client. I spent some time deciding on the workflow of the app to ensure my design of the app fit their vision.
